Owners Update
The road to wellness can sometimes seem daunting. In addition to eating right—which has so many interpretations—there are a myriad of decisions that confront us every day regarding the most favorable way to approach and maintain good health. For example, what, if any, supplements and vitamins should you take? What type of exercise suits you physically and personally? Should you consult a conventional or alternative health professional for health concerns? What's the best way to manage stress? There are many choices, so best to keep it simple. Explore your choices with an open mind; eat good food, eat regularly and carefully; move; breathe and above all, find a way to love yourself. Jody & Joe Nolan

We will also be expanding our baby food selection and adding organic baby clothing. Thanks to everyone for asking questions and responding to our new website. We have been getting a lot of great feedback. See you in the aisles! Ron

More on that in September, but for now we are looking for talented performers who might be willing to entertain. If you are such a person, or know of someone, please either hit respond to this email or email April with that information. Turn on JavaScript!
Recipe of the Month
California Waldorf Salad
Serves 4-6
This lively version of Waldorf salad combines the traditional ingredients with fresh organic baby spinach and a zesty lime dressing. It makes a lovely addition to a late summer picnic.
Dressing:
1/3 cup organic non-fat plain yogurt or sour cream
1/3 cup organic mayonnaise
1 teaspoon grated lime rind
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1/2 teaspoon honey
2 teaspoons curry powder
Salad:
1/2 cup organic celery, thinly sliced
1/2 cup organic raisins
1/2 cup organic grapes, halved
1 organic apple, diced
1/2 cup organic pecans or walnuts, toasted
5 cups organic baby spinach
Combine the dressing ingredients in a bowl and whisk to blend.
In a larger bowl, combine the celery, raisins, grapes, apple and nuts. Add about 2 tablespoons of the dressing to this mixture.
Place the spinach in a salad bowl, add the celery, fruits and nuts and some of the dressing, then toss to combine. Add more dressing sparingly if needed.
Can you guess this picture?
Last months mystery picture was Kombucha, and specifically the grape flavor. Kombucha is the Western name for sweetened, fermented tea which is thought to have numerous health benefits. The recorded history of this drink dates back to the Qin Dynasty in China (around 250 BC). Congratulations and 2 free lunches go to Alan V. and Rania D. for their correct guesses.
