Owners Update
We hope you didn't fare too badly in the tempestuous June storms. For those who suffered only minor basement seepage, there were blessings to count as we watched waters spill into the overflowing carp-filled streets of downtown Pewaukee. Tough times often seem to bring out the best in most and many came to the aid of neighbors in need. Our thoughts are with community businesses, local farmers and residents as they regroup, rebuild, and dry out. Be good to yourself this summer. Spend time with loved ones and friends, change just one or two things for the better in your food regime, and get outdoors for some form of movement every day. Consider taking a wellness store tour, a comprehensive nutrition class or join us for a drumming circle (all listed in our July flyer or online under "classes"). July marks our 3-1/2 year anniversary and we are happy to be part of your journey towards good health. Jody and Joe Nolan, Owners

Every month we are finding 4 to 5 new vendors from Wisconsin. As of July, we now have 77 vendors from Wisconsin delivering to us! Wow! One of the lesser known advantages of buying local is that almost half of the money spent stays in the local economy, compared to less than 15% for products shipped from around the country and world. Take a look at our list of local vendors on our new website under "local." The recent rains have hurt a lot of our local farmers, from loss of crop to field replanting. At the least, most crops will experience delays before they are ready to harvest. We will keep you up to date on this issue. We are adding a Good Harvest Market brand of coffee the first week in July. It is an Arabica coffee and we will have about 10 varieties. We will also start serving this brand in our café. Plans are being finalized for a minor remodel at the store, enabling us to add more shelf space for Produce and Grocery Departments. Since most work will occur at night time, there should be very little disruption to our customers. See you in the aisles. Ron

In early July we will be introducing a new line of organic, artisan cheeses from Castle Rock. This small, family farm is from Osseo located in NW Wisconsin—they offer raw milk cheese, cheese curds, and bleu cheese. Look for some great sale prices on Clif Bar products, Nature's Path Eco-Pak cereals, and Garden of Eatin' tortilla chips. We hope you have noticed that we have the lowest prices on gallon organic milk and eggs. Christian

We are excited to introduce our new line of deli meats by Thumanns. If you're looking for deli products that use only the finest cuts, have excellent taste, superb quality and are healthier for you, then look no further! Thumanns meats offer many choices that are certified by the American Heart Association. They are low in sodium, cholesterol and fats, and as always at GHM, there are no antibiotics or MSG, no hormones, no nitrates or nitrites, no artificial colors or flavors, no preservatives or carrageenan, and no fillers or binders. They are also certified gluten & casein free. We think you'll like the selection and we know you'll love the lower price! July specials include Thumanns Black Forest Ham $5.99lb, Thumanns Corned Beef $5.99lb, Thumanns Pastrami $5.99lb, Bone In Ribeye Steaks $15.99lb, Philly Cheesesteak Brat $7.99lb, BBQ Pork Rib on a Stick $5.99 and Chicken Drumsticks $2.99 lb. The recent stormy weather has delayed much of the local produce but we have started to get in a few herbs and greens. We have fresh dill, fresh cilantro and beautiful fresh picked green kale from West Star Farms. Also arriving are broccoli sprouts, alfalfa sprouts and wheat grass from Stella Gardens in East Troy. You are not alone if you are confused about how to eat wheatgrass. While it is best juiced, small amounts can also be added to salads. This highly nutritious food contains 98 of the 102 earth elements and since it's considered a vegetable in the grass stage, it is safe for people with wheat allergies. It's also a powerful health food supplement that is packed with highly concentrated vitamins, minerals, chlorophylls and enzymes. The free item this month for ECO customers with a $50 purchase is a 10 oz bag of either Rainbow Kale Mix or a Garden Green Mix, which retail at $4.99. We have some recipe ideas for those not familiar with preparing kale. Don't panic, it's organic! Mark
