From the Owners...
We invite you to take a look at our new updated website. Not only will you find relevant information about the store, products and sales, but plenty of interesting articles about related topics such as transitioning to organic, buying local, dealing with food allergies, and much more. The nicest thing about the new web site is that we can now easily improve our site, so we welcome your input. It has been our pleasure to serve you this spring and wish you a very happy and bountiful summer. Thanks! Jody and Joe
From Our General Manager...
Summer brings plenty of opportunities for outdoor dining, so check out our kabobs and specialty burgers for grilling in the Meat Department, our fabulous local fruits and vegetables in the Produce Department and our fresh homemade salads in the Harvest Café. This is the best time for buying local!
The rise in fuel prices has been difficult for all of us. One of our biggest concerns is meeting the requests from our customers for items made by small companies from around the country. It is becoming more difficult to order small quantities from these companies and keep the prices reasonable. There are even times when the delivery charge is more than the cost of the product. We are continually trying to find and offer alternatives that are just as good—but can be found locally.
We are planning some remodeling in the store to expand selections, especially in Produce. If anyone has thoughts on items they would like to see, please let me know. See you in the aisles. Ron Sjoquist, General Manager
Department Updates
Produce Department
Our first shipments of local produce are starting to come in—we currently have green chard, rhubarb, asparagus and spinach from local farms. For a great summer salad idea, just add strawberries, walnuts and asparagus tips to a bed of spinach and toss with a raspberry vinaigrette. In case you're on the run, you can pick one up already made at the store! All month long, we will be offering organic raspberries for $3.99, regularly $7.99, and organic red and green grapes for $3.99, regularly $6.99. Don't panic, it's organic! Mark
Grocery Department
This month we are offering tremendous values on BBQ items such as Mali's hardwood charcoal—nothing cooks like Mali's! And free this month, with a $50 purchase, your choice of hamburger or hot dog buns - $3.50 retail value. Great savings on Blue Sky organic soda and Santa Cruz organic lemonade. Also for June, enjoy great prices on selected Rudi's breads, Newman's pretzels, Garden of Eatin' tortilla chips and Amy's salsa. Christian
Meat & Seafood
Our department would like to offer you some great grilling specials to kick off the summer season. Enjoy beef of chicken kabobs for $8.99lb, flank steaks for $9.99lb, boneless skinless chicken breasts for $9.19lb and whole chickens for $3.69lb.
We have had many requests for wild Alaskan salmon, so here's an update. Last month, the California salmon season was terrible—there were no salmon coming out of the three main rivers there. The Alaskan salmon season is just kicking off and weather conditions have made for the poorest start in a very long time. If the weather starts to cooperate, we should see some reasonable pricing and availability in a few more weeks. Copper River Salmon is going for $45lb which we feel is just too high to bring in. Feel free to inquire next time you're in as to the latest information. Christine
Holistic Health & Wellness
I hope everyone had a chance to stop in during our first Wellness Tuesday last week, but in case you missed it, our next Wellness Tuesday will be June 24. Be sure to mark your calendar and stop in for some new demos and great sales. Also, every Saturday this month we will be having a live demo in the Health & Beauty Department featuring some of our exciting new products and seasonal items.
We have also expanded our Dr. Hauschka Skin Care line to include not only the facial care, but also body care and makeup. For everyone who has been patiently waiting for the make-up to arrive, we expect shipment in early June. We will also be raffling off Awakening Beauty the Dr. Hauschka Way book through June. During the month, any time you purchase a Dr. Hauschka product, fill out a raffle slip to enter to win the book.

Customer Service
As our store has grown, so have the number of eco card members. We hope everyone knows that the eco card saves you money every time you use it no matter what you buy. And the more you spend, the higher your savings will be. Good Harvest Market also donates a percentage of its eco card sales to a local charity on a monthly basis. If you forget your card or need a new one, we are happy to either look up your number or make a new card for you at the Customer Service Desk. April
Classes & Workshops
Wonderful and new workshops and classes are planned for June, so pick up a flyer at any front register or see our listing on-line. We are offering special tours and events in all departments: Health & Wellness Tour with Sadie on 6/4; Grilling Tips with Christine on 6/10; Gluten Free Tour and Tastings with April on 6/19; and Goodness of Organics Tour with Christian on 6/20. To better serve you, as always please call the store at 262-544-9380 to register for any of these and other workshops. Jody
Can you guess?
Congratulations to Sherry M and Sally W for correctly guessing last months picture, which was the cereal called Orangos and had a picture of an Orangutan - unfortunately, that product is now extinct (it's been discontinued)! Can you tell us what this month's picture is? Two winners will earn lunch for two from Harvest Cafe.
Recipe of the Month - the perfect grilled steak!
A while back, Joe came across a recipe for grilling steaks which boasted it never failed. Now after having used it to cook many mouth watering, organic steaks, Jody & Joe have to agree that it is!
1 inch thick T-bones (or your choice)
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Black Pepper (large grind)
Sea Salt (sparingly)
- Season both sides of your steaks and allow to come to room temperature, about 1 hour or so.
- Light or start grill in advance so that it is very hot when steaks are ready for the grill.
- Place steaks in one direction over your grates and start counting.
- In 2 1/2 minutes, spin the steaks 90 degrees so that you have a nice cross pattern of grill marks.
- In 2 more minutes, use a tongs (never put a fork into a steak while cooking) to turn over and again cook for 2 1/2 minutes and turn for an additional 2 minutes.
- Remove the steaks from the fire.
- To allow the juices to flow back to the center of the steaks, allow to sit for 3-5 minutes before serving.
You may need to add time if you want a more well done steak, or if they are thicker than 1 inch. Some folks also like to first marinade in herbs, soy sauce, Worcestershire, etc.
Enjoy!
